*UPDATE*: Good Causes: A Home for author Sharon Cullars
Jan 26th, 2009 by Michelle Lauren
Update* I received permission from Ms. Hubbard, one of the authors involved in the auction, to post this message on my site. She has added a special prize to the auction – the chance to be a character in one of her upcoming books!
Wanna be in my next book?I’ll interview the winning bidder, and tell her (or him!) all about the plot, setting and characters. Then we’ll decide what “your” character will look like, what he or she does for a living, how they’ll fit into the story, and even their dialogue. This is a chance to be just about anything you want. A cat. A designer perfume. A sports car. The lead character of a story within the story. The possibilities are limited only by imagination, and if you’ve read any of my books, you’ll know that my imagination is fairly vast.Visit this link, and let the bidding begin…Thank you!Sincerely,Crystal Hubbard
The auction ends January 29, so please don’t miss out! And remember, if you want to donate directly to Ms. Cullars, you can do that as well via the Chip In site linked to below or via Paypal.**
2008 was a rough financial year, which saw the fall of several companies, an increase in layoffs and a rise in foreclosures. Among those affected is Sharon Cullars, the author of “Again” and “The Object of Love.”
Ms. Cullars recently lost her job and has been unable to find another. She is currently involved in a battle to keep her home, where she cares for her mother – the victim of several strokes. The online community of readers and writers is pulling together to show their support of Ms. Cullars. Among the headliners are: authorCrystal Hubbard (who has been vigilant in getting the word out to aid Ms. Cullars through projects such as Chip-In), and Roslyn Holcomb and author Emma Petersen (who is helping organize an auction to benefit Ms. Cullars).
Emma gave me permission to reprint this message from her newsletter. Feel free to forward it to others.
The romance community is gathering together put on an auction to benefit romance author Sharon Cullars. Sharon is the author of Again, The Invitation and The Object of Love and she is in imminent danger of losing her home to foreclosure. Fate and the economy hasn’t been kind to Sharon or her family. She lost her job, was unable to secure another one, her mother suffered a series of strokes and now the family is dealing with cancer. If Sharon loses her home that means she and her ill mother will be homeless and this is what we are trying to prevent. You can read Sharon’s story here. You can visit the A Home For Sharon website here.
I know almost all of us in some way, shape or form have been affected by our country’s current economic climate, so while cash donations are welcomed, what we really need are items to be auctioned off on eBay.The auctions will official[ly] start on January 19th. Any items are welcome. Autographed print books, eBooks, bundles of books, series collections, Editor, Agent, Author Critiques, Mentoring Opportunities, Web, Promotion and Design services.I cannot thank you all enough for your generosity.
So if you are looking for a way to give back this year, please think about contributing to help out this author in need.

I finally decided to write a comment on your blog. I just wanted to say good job. I really enjoy reading your posts.
