Interview: Beg for It by Minx Malone **PRIZES**
Aug 17th, 2009 by Michelle Lauren
Today I’m interviewing multi-published author, Minx Malone. Minx writes for Cobblestone Press and Ellora’s Cave. Her latest release, Beg for It came out August 7th. Welcome, Minx!
Tell us about your latest release.
Beg For It is about what happens when two best friends realize they can’t keep their hands off each other. It’s a contemporary interracial romance from Ellora’s Cave.

The only thing ad executive Mya Taylor loves more than winning is her best friend Milo Hamilton. Nothing has ever come between them until she finds out Milo is her chief rival for a new account.
Milo’s not sure when it happened but his secret crush has morphed into an obsession. He wants Mya in his bed, screaming his name, and he knows just how to make it happen.
When he proposes a friendly wager on the account, he knows the ultra-competitive Mya won’t be able to resist. She’s more than ready to lay it all on the line until she finds out how high the stakes are—the two of them. Skin to skin.
Suddenly, all bets are off.
How did you come up with the idea?
I’m not being cheeky when I say I wish I knew! Ideas come to me at such random times that I’ve given up trying to make logic of it. My creative mind seems to soak up everything I’m exposed to and then swirl it around in some mad witch’s brew. Then a few months or even years later, POOF a novel idea emerges. If I knew how to make it happen I would try to do it all the time and well, what fun would that be?
Do you think it’s possible for men and women to have platonic friendships?
You know, I do. However, I’m not entirely sure about platonic friendships between men and women who are ATTRACTED to each other. This is where everything changes.
Especially if it’s someone you’ve known forever and they truly love you as a person, well – that sounds an awful lot like the foundation for a relationship. I think it would take an excessive amount of mental energy to keep your mind from going down that path. Even then, it doesn’t really mean that you’re JUST platonic friends.
It just means nothing has happened YET.
Is the book a series or stand alone?
It’s a stand alone story however I am pretty sure I will have to write about some of the other characters for my next book. Andre Lavin in particular is relatively pissed that he didn’t get the girl this time.
I might have to write his story just to get him to shut up. He keeps fussing at me in Italian. I have no idea what he’s saying but it’s really annoying.
Here’s a snippet from the story, complete with SPOILER TAG. Just click to view the excerpt. Enjoy!
What motivates you to write?
The voices…*crickets chirping* Just kidding. I find it to be such a rush to be in control of my own little universe. I can make anything happen that I want, good always prevails over evil and people always end up happy in the end. It’s as close to the divine as I can get.
If you could be any character in one of your books, who would it be & why?
The heroine of my paranormal romance Hellbaby. Helena is a firestarting half angel/half demon. I think that would be a pretty cool power to have.
What’s next for you, project wise?
I was supposed to be working on the next book in the Desire Incorporated series. However, as I mentioned, Andre Lavin is bugging me to write his story next. He’s a little arrogant so I think he needs a strong woman to keep him in line.

Hi Minx, congrats on your new release. It’s always great getting to know a new to me author. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite storylines and I really enjoyed both the excerpts for Beg For It. Love their chemistry and it had me smiling.

Wow Minx all I can say is hot. Question did you have fun writing this story and where did the idea come from? :<3
Hi Gloria,
I loved writing the story, I love the idea of best friends getting together. I wish I knew where the idea came from but it took a long time to gel. I probably played around with it for more than a year off and on before I felt like the chemistry was right between the characters.
Great question!
Congratulations to the following prize winners from Minx Malone’s August contests:
RobynL won a download of a book
Cathy M won the $25 gift certificate
