LORIBELLE HUNT BOOK GIVEAWAY
Oct 13th, 2009 by Michelle Lauren
I’m excited to welcome Loribelle Hunt to my blog today.
Today, she is chatting with us about series — a fitting subject considering she currently has two, bestselling series: The Delroi Connection from Liquid Silver Books ( INVASION EARTH, LEAVING EARTH & STOLEN EARTH ) and the Lunar Mates series from Cobblestone Press.
Two Lips Romance Reviews describes her work as “deliciously naughty,” and Wild on Books calls her latest book a “sizzling addition to any bookshelf.” To celebrate her current new release, HUNTER’S MOON , Loribelle is giving away a prize: 1 reader will win his/her choice from the author’s backlist.
*UPDATE** Congratulations to SUSAN, who won her choice of a book from Loribelle’s backlist. I’ve already contacted Susan. Thanks to everyone else for participating!
Loribelle, welcome.

Series: Love ‘em or Hate ‘em?
I love a good series. There’s nothing like getting wrapped up in a
great book with a compelling love story and fascinating secondary
characters. Well, better than that? When the secondaries get their own book! Of course, it’s also great fun when you get to see couples from previous books. I like to revisit them. See how they’re doing. I love Christine Feehan, Suzanne Brockmann, Nalini Singh and many others for exactly this reason.
Since I love to get sucked into series it’s probably not surprising
that I also like to write them. I have a whole cast of characters from
the Lunar Mates, Delroi Connection, and Pride Law series rattling
around in my head begging for a story. Alas, so many cool characters,
so little time.
I’m always a bit surprised I when hear someone say they don’t like
series. The number one complaint seems to be that subsquent books
aren’t up to the same standards as earlier books. Or the series gets
boring and routine. Thankfully, I haven’t had that issue with any of
my faves.
So you tell me. How do feel about series? Love em? Hate em? Couldn’t care less?

I _love_ series and spin offs where side characters become the main character and have their own story in a world and with characters I’ve invested time learning/reading about. I’m also a huge fan of seeing the main characters of previous stories randomly pop up in new books just to say ‘hi’ or something. Like greeting an old friend, in a way.
Hey Loribelle,
but then the book comes out and then I’m delighted…
I’m kind of on the fence about series…It’s completely dependent on the author’s work…some authors can create really great series’ others not so much…I’m actually quite fond of a few authors…Lora Leigh, Marisa Chenery, Annmarie McKenna, Mackenzie Mackade, Tere Michaels, Maya Banks…so many more…
The only sucky part of it is waiting for the release of the next in the series…GOD!!! THat is just seriously agonizing!!!
Congratulations on your newest release!!!
Best of luck on all of your future projects!!!
Happy Reading!!!

For the most part I enjoy series, several people have mentioned authors whose series I keep following. I will admit that there have been a few times when I went to start a book, found out it was part of a series & thought, later (i.e. stardoc).
Speaking of series, any more Delroi Connection books coming?
Congrats on the release! Beth
I love series. I always get sad when a really good story ends. So it is nice if there is a series so i can learn more about the same or different characters from the first.
Thanks and God bless anna
I enjoy series and the stand alone books!! Sometimes you want the story to continue and that is why I enjoy reading series. You can really get into the characters more when they come back in another book. I sometimes get antsy for the next series book to come out:)
I do love series! Have read several in my time and you begin to bond with these characters, settings, etc. They stay in your mind as does the author. Have a great day! T.
I like series’ so many times in a stand alone or single title there is a secondary character that you just cant get out of your mind. But, the author isnt affected that way. When an author writes a series those in the background intriguing people will get there story the author put them there for that reason. The author will wait for audience feedback and there you go….series! I hope that makes sense, it did while I was thinking it. Johanna
I love books in a series as it seems to extend the story line longer.
I usually read print books so when I find a series I will get them all and keep them all together just in case I ever want to reread them again. I love the ones also about a complete town and all the folks living in it. I feel like I moved there and getting to know the neighbors.
I think series are good for the author as well..most of the time it is a security measure as most of the time..a person won’t read one book and not want the others. I know if I read one..look out I will fight to get the rest.
Okay my
is almost empty so will close and add..have a great day. susan L.
I enjoy reading series. I like knowing a “world” and spending time there. Also getting to revisit with previous characters is fun.
I enjoy a series because I get to find out more about the main character or all the other chracters in the book that sound interesting.
Hi Loribelle, love your Lunar mates series and your other books. Your books are easy to fall in love with!
Hi Loribelle, I love a good series, and have shelves full of books that I auto-buy because I am so hooked on the world and characters that a favorite author has created. I do prefer that each story in a series have an ending though, no cliff hangers. And I love it when an author revisists old characters and includes them in future releases.
Congrats on your new release, Loribelle! It sounds really good!
I love series books. I love a series in which the main character is the focus in all the books in the series. Also enjoy series in which the main focus is on the stories of the secondary characters and the main characters from the first book make appearances. The only thing I don’t like about a series book is if there is a cliff hanger ending. I hate having to wait a year to find out what happens next! I love it if a series is released month after month. I love being able to read the books one right after the other.
I absolutely love series, especially with strong handsome men and strong beautiful women. I like for each book to fresh and different. But…..
sometimes a series has run its course and it’s time to end it. If each book seems repetitive, I get bored.
Thanks.
[...] ‘em or hate ‘em? I’m blogging about just that at Michelle Lauren’s blog today. One of the commenters will win a book from my [...]
I love series books I do prefer the ones that can also stand alone though that way if I read one out of order it still makes sense .
Whew! Nice to know I’m not the only series lover!
g* Though I’ll admit I am guilty of the occasional cliff hanger lol!
Connie, thanks! Lunar Mates will have a spin off series that launches in Dec (Pride Law). Werelions! I just couldn’t resist the cats lol. ;)
Elizabeth, I am working on a new Delroi book. I have no idea at the moment when it will be available, probably late next spring.
I like series particularly when the same characters play key roles in each book so we can follow their development versus very loosely connected series where past characters are only briefly mentioned. They’re usually a relative of one of the new main characters.
I love shifter books. This one looks great!
Hello, Loribelle! Congratulations on your latest release! I do enjoy book series when I just can’t let go of those characters! Strong lead players and an intriguing supporting cast naturally lend themselves to a continued story line. It’s fun to see how the characters will grow and reveal more of themselves as they are faced with new challenges. Things really get juciy when a few more interesting imperfections are discovered along the way!
I adore series! Every new book in a series is like visiting with old friends with whom we’ve become attached, especially with SciFi/Fantasy/Paranormal Series where the setting can be quite different from our reality.
I love your Delroi and Lunar Mates books and can’t wait to read more.
I really enjoy series stories it’s like you can catch up with old friends to read about were the characters in previous books are in their lives. I really enjoy it.
Love a series! I’ve always liked to read them-if something is that good, I never want it to end-and I’ve just started to write them myself, even though I swore I never would. I’ve always had a short attention span as a writer, but I’ve learned to never say never. As both a reader and a writer, I love that sense of homecoming when I get to read or write about a character I’ve gotten to know from another book-makes me warmfuzzy…:)
Thanks so much to everyone who came by and shared today! The winner of the drawing is comment #8 Susan. Susan, email me at loribellehunt at gmail dot com with the title and format of your choice from my backlist. :)
Thanks to everyone who came out to participate in the giveaway! Loribelle, you have a lot of fans out there who, like me, are eagerly awaiting your next book.
I love both your Lunar Mates and The Delroi Connection series. I’ve read all of the Lunar Mates books except #7 and #8, but they are both on my TBR list.
Thanks so much to Loribelle for taking the time to answer reader questions– and for being such a great writer. Keep the series coming and we’ll keep reading.
I haven’t read any of your books but would love to. Please enter me! Thanks.
